NAFDMA honors Jane Eckert with Outstanding Leadership Award NAFDMA North American Farmers' Direct Marketing Association
"It was such a surprise and an honor to be recognized for this award by my peers,” says Eckert, of St. Louis, Mo. “I learned so much by marketing our family farms and feel privileged to now be sharing these experiences with so many farms and tourism groups throughout North America." Eckert was raised on her family’s apple orchard outside of St. Louis. After graduating from college with a business degree, she went on to work in executive marketing positions for 18 years. Then she returned to Eckert's Country Store and Farms in Belleville, Ill. In 2001, Eckert’s Country Store and Farms was honored as NAFDMA’s Farm Market of the Year. During the time that Eckert served as the farm’s vice president of marketing, she helped develop it into one of the most successful retail and entertainment farms in America. Today, it is a top tourist attraction that draws more than half a million guests annually.
